Elections Coming Up!
I posted this to our Yahoo group last night. Thought it was important enough to post here again, but lets keep the conversation together on the Yahoo list:
Hello all. Well it is almost time to hold elections for the board of directors for the Colorado chapter of the IGDA. There are three elected positions and two positions appointed by the board after elections.
We'll be meeting again on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 pm. at the Tavern Uptown in Denver. At that meeting it would be an ideal time for those wanting to run for a board position to say a few words. If you would like to run for a position, let me know (before, during, or even slightly after) the meeting. You can (and should) provide a few paragraphs of text about yourself and why you'd like to be on the board. I'll post all of those to the web site before we hold elections.
The board members do things like arrange the monthly meetings, work with other people and organizations for special events like our picnics, game jams and lan parties, meet-ups at conferences, things like that. We also get to occasionally represent the gaming community when journalists or government officials are looking for information or connections. It isn't too much work, honestly, and it is a good way to get to know the entire game dev community.
Elections will be done online. We'll most likely start a week later, on Feb. 13, and have them run until the 20th. We'll finalize that and discuss more at the meeting on the 6th.
